The Most Rev. James Kwadwo Owusu established the Brong Ahafo Catholic Co-operatives Society for Development, BACCSOD in 1974. The Bishop realized that the long term solution to the socio-economic problems facing the people in the newly created Diocese was to empower the people financially. For the Bishop, “individually we are poor, but together we are not”. He permitted the use of the financial, human, and physical resources of the Church to create financial opportunities for the people.
